Natural Tick Repellant For The Family & Dogs

Chemicals products such as DEET are effective against ticks and no one can take that away from them, however precaution and understanding of the products side effects is essential.

Yes sometimes desperate times calls for desperate measures but when we are talking tick prevention we can confidently assure you that natural repellants are attainable and effective.

The best part is that you can actually name the ingredients without feeling puzzled about what you are spraying on your body.


Before providing you with the recipe, it is important to be self-aware and do your due diligence to ensure you don’t have allergies or sensitivities to the mentioned ingredients. Essential oils are a great tool to but in their own way must be used with caution in mind.

Tick Repellant for the Adventurer

10 Drops of Geranium Essential Oil

5 Drops of Lemongrass

5 Drops of Cedarwood

3 Drops of Lavender

4 oz of Apple cider vinegar or Distilled water (you can also use, Rubbing alcohol, witch hazel, water mixed with castile soap)

1 Glass spray bottle

Directions: Add Apple cider vinegar or mix of choice in glass spray bottle, then add the drops of essential oils.

Shake bottle before every use.

Tick repellant number 2

1/2 cup of which Hazel

24 drops of Geranium

24 drops of Lavender

1 Glass bottle

Both of these recipes are safe for adult and kids

Natural Tick Repellant for Dogs

Disclaimer : Not to be used on Cats or pregnant animals

20 drops of Geranium Essential oil

2 tbsp. of Sweet Almond oil or Vegetable oil

Apply a few drops on the collar

I can go on and on about how effective Essential oils can be, all of these oils utilized have been known and tested to be excellent tick and other bug repellants.

Cedarwood for instance is highly toxic to ticks and thus the most effective

Geranium is a potent tick repellant and is used in most natural tick repellant recipes

Lavender is an all purpose repellant and great at preventing tick eggs from hatching

Lemongrass is also an all purpose repellant, mosquitoes also hate the smell
